By asset type
Recorded by serial, assessed for working life before recycling, reconciled at every handover. The media inside is treated as a separate problem — because it is.
Coverage
1U to 4U rack servers, tower and edge units, with rails, bezels and accessories recovered alongside them. Recorded by make, model and serial at collection.
Controllers, expansion shelves and JBODs logged as a set. Drive carriers counted and reconciled against the array configuration rather than estimated.
Switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers and wireless infrastructure, including line cards and optics recorded against their chassis.
Rack UPS units, battery cabinets, PDUs, enclosures and containment. Batteries are declared upfront because they change how a load is transported.
Tape libraries, drives and cartridges. Media is declared and handled separately from the hardware that reads it.
Memory, processors, expansion cards, transceivers and spare modules — the store-room stock that is usually left out of a disposal scope entirely.
Data-bearing media
A missing server is an inventory problem. A missing drive is a disclosure problem. So media is never bundled into a general count — it is identified at scoping, itemised at handover, and handled exactly as you instruct.
We do not publish a data-destruction certification we do not hold. If your policy requires one, ask us directly and we will confirm our current position in writing — including where the right answer is that media should stay with you.
Valuation
Residual value is a function of generation, configuration, condition and demand — not of what the equipment cost when it was bought. A four-year-old two-socket server with populated memory can still be worth recovering; the same chassis stripped of its drives, memory and rails frequently is not.
Completeness matters more than most organisations expect. Rails, caddies, bezels, power supplies and optics all affect whether a unit is re-deployable or only good for parts. Keeping them together through the collection is one of the simplest ways to protect value.
We assess before we quote, and we tell you what the assessment found. Where the honest answer is that the scope carries no meaningful residual value, you will hear that rather than an optimistic number that changes later.
Process
Establish exactly what is being retired, and where it sits.
Move the hardware off your floor without disrupting what stays.
Determine what still has working life, and what does not.
Media handled the way you instruct, recorded line by line.
Keep working hardware working before it becomes material.
Close out end-of-life material through accountable channels.
